North Carolina Emergency Management Convention Sunset Beach North Carolina (Oct. 16-18, 2017)
This October, Reliance Business Development attended the NC Emergency Management Convention at Sea Trail Conference Center, Sunset Beach North Carolina (Oct. 16-18). The North Carolina Emergency Mgmt. Association hosted the event, (http://www.ncema.net). Reliance attended this event with one of our clients- On Site Water Management LLC. On- Site (http://onsitewatermanagement.com) offers a highly valuable service: emergency water systems. These fixed and mobile systems are a blessing to facilities that suddenly lose water due to natural disasters or water main breakages. The mobile units are particularly useful in situations where one or two emergency water units on standby can back up several smaller facilities. Emergency response teams also find the mobile units useful in providing drinking water when regular water supplies have been cut off or have been contaminated.
On-Site Water Management has provided services to over 80 large institutions in the United States.
To us, the most interesting exhibiter at the show was the drone company Go Unmanned (https://gounmanned.com). Drones are very useful in many emergency situations when you don’t want to put people in harm’s way, such as monitoring a hostage taking or getting in close to a large fire. They put on a couple of well attended demonstrations outside. Let’s face it drones are not only practical, but they also have a fun factor sure to peak people’s interest.
The conference was well attended with representatives from all of North Carolina counties, NC state government and FEMA. In North Carolina county emergency groups are the basic building blocks for emergency groups. This convention sponsored by the North Carolina Emergency Mgmt. Association, is one of the ways that the association helps to facilitate state wide cooperation and resource coordination.
